It looks like I have the possibility of being a busy bee
this summer if I want to be.
I just got confirmation today that I was chosen in the
lottery for the Horribly Hilly Hundreds.
It’s a one day bike ride a little bit west of Madison, WI. It is 150 km (93 miles) with 9,300 feet of
climbing. Downhill distance is not
counted in the climb. That is just the
amount you go up throughout the day.
That amount of climbing is grueling and could possibly be horrible if
you are not prepared. Hence the name.
I also signed up earlier this week for TOMRV (Tour of the
Mississippi River Valley). That’s a well
respected two day ride starting in the Quad Cities. That one is 106 miles on the Saturday, camp
out that evening, and return back through another route on Sunday for an
additional 90 miles. And this is the
weekend immediately before Horribly Hilly.
I will be very tired after that 8 day stretch.
Here’s what I tentatively have planned for the year. Items in Bold I am definitely doing. Everything else is just a possibility. The dates are the Saturday and Sunday of that
week. DSM = Des Moines area. Oly = Olympic distance triathlon. If you have ideas for other events, please
let me know.
